Re: Bayside Cemetery, NY
Dear Mr. Hildeshaim,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance in helping my staff to develop an action plan to resorte Bayside Cemetery.  Your insight and understanding gave my office a new perspective in handling this delicate situation.

It is my understanding synagogues have just read about the 10 plagues an the redemption of the Jews from Egypt.  A rabbi once told me "Why couldn't G-D just take the Jews out of Egypt and bring them into Israel without the entire episodes of the 10 Plagues and the splitting of the Red Sea?"  He answered "G-d" wanted to teach the miracle of sustaining hope within ourselves that we can make a better and different tomorrow in the face of major challenges.  It is very difficult to take the initial steps in a very bleak situation, but with the power of faith and our will to take on the task, miracles can happen."

We are faced with the grim reality of people vandalizing and neglection a cemetery.  The respect for the dearly departed seems to have temporarily disappeared without trace.  Certain individuals succumbed to greed and forfeited their values, leaving a cemetery in shambles.  The project to restore the cemetery seems too huge to take on since i involves many hours of time and lots of money.  However, when I see individuals like you coming from a different state to assist my office in this great project, it continues my hope i humanity to actually finish this project.  You are indeed a mentsch.

Once again, thank you for your support and insight.  May G-d bless you for health, happiness and success in the years to come.
Sincerely,
